Congratulations to Coach Shaw, Coach Bonds, the Regent Rams Tennis players and the Regent players’ parents for earning the school’s first state runner up finish today in OKC!
Both Regent singles and doubles entries, in the State Tourney earned medals and points at the State Tourney to earn the OSSAA Runner-Up State trophy!
Here is the Regent medal round results:
Beth Bayless, #1 singles, was the State Runner-Up. It's the first State Runner-Up finish at #1 Singles in school history, and the second athlete with post 20 win campaign (21 wins). Bayless gave the team 7 important points.
At #2 Singles, Kate McElwain finished in 3rd place and picked up her 14th win of the season after an impressive Regional Championship. McElwain gave the team a critical 5 points. She was a perfect 2-0 on day one of the Tournament.
The #1 Doubles team of Natalie Stitt and Lindsey Streeter defeated the #1 seeded team from Grove in a battle late in to the night at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center. The Rams played to their seed, and on the final day of competition picked up a key victory against Byng to secure 4 points for the team. They also finished the season with an impressive 15 wins.
The #2 Doubles team of Natalie Randall and Julie Wright finished the State Tournament with three wins, and 6 points for the team and a terrific third place finish. The girls had a very solid win on the final day, and finished the season with an impressive 15 wins.
